Tigers Keep Rolling At Home With A 3-0 Sweep Of Cal State Northridge

Stockton, Calif. - Led by a 12 kill night from senior Alexa Anderson (Los Gatos, Calif.), the Pacific women's volleyball team picked up another home conference victory, downing the visiting Matadors, 3-0, on Friday, November 14. The win moved the Tigers to 10-14 overall and 9-5 in conference action while Cal State Northridge fell to 7-21 on the year and 1-13 in the Big West.

Set scores for the match were: 25-19, 25-14, 25-18.

Leading 10-8 in the opening set, Pacific took control with five straight points to build a 15-8 edge. Senior Natalia Tomaszewska (Marklowice, Poland) led the Pacific charge with two kills and a block assist. Fellow senior Kara Uhl (Long Beach, Calif.) chipped in a service ace, while sophomore Svenja Engelhardt (Sinsheim, Germany) rounded out the run on a solo block.

Late in the set, the Matadors cut the Tigers' lead to just three at 20-17, but Pacific nabbed the next four and went on to take the set, 25-19. The Pacific defense held Cal State Northridge to a side out percentage of just 37 percent and a hitting average of .032 (eight kills and seven errors on 31 attemtps) in the victory.

Senior setter Shannon Krug (Colorado Springs, Colo.) kept the Tigers momentum rolling as the second set began. Krug distributed the ball out to four different Tigers as Pacific raced out to an 8-2 early lead. Krug kept Pacific on target throughout the set, leading her team to 12 kills and only one error on 31 attempts in the set (.355 hitting percentage) and to a 25-14 win.

Out of the break the Tigers went right back to work at the start of the third set, building a 12-4 lead. Pacific cruised to a 25-18 victory, earning their 10th win in the Alex G. Spanos Center this season.

Senior Alexa Anderson (Los Gatos, Calif.) led the Tigers with a match-high 12 kills and an impressive .355 hitting percentage. Alexa committed only one error on 31 attempts.

The Tigers return to the court on Saturday, Nov. 15 as Pacific concludes its Big West Conference home schedule against Cal State Fullerton at 7 p.m. in the Alex G. Spanos Center.
