Jake Wild Strikes Out 14 in Arizona League Championship Game

Seattle, Washington - Former Pacific men's baseball standout Jake Wild (Kingsburg, Calif.) pitched eight impressive innings for the Arizona League Mariners on August 31 in an 8-5 win over the Giants in the AZL Championship game. Wild recorded a total of 14 strikeouts in the game for the Mariners, while giving up only four hits, a run, and a walk in the contest. With the win his record improved to 1-0 on the season.

Wild was selected in the 26th round of the MLB amateur draft by the Seattle Mariners in June earlier this year. He played at Pacific for two seasons after playing at Bakersfield College his freshman and sophomore years. Wild finished his Pacific career with a 3-13 record, recording three saves and an ERA of 5.88. He recorded 83 strikeouts and 58 walks in 104.0 innings as a Tiger.
