Annapolis, MD- The men's Pacific water polo team fell to Navy in a 13-12 overtime loss and to Bucknell in a 10-5 game to open their 2007 season in Annapolis, MD on Sept. 1. With the loss the Tigers fell to 0-2 to start the year.
In the Tigers' first match of the day they fell to Navy in overtime after fighting back from a 5-3 deficit at the half. After scoring three goals in each the third and fourth quarters to tie the game at ten a piece, the Tigers eventually lost by a final score of 13-12.
In the Tigers' loss to Bucknell, senior Duje Kaurloto (Split, Croatia) led the team in goals with two, while senior Dragan Bakic (Split, Croatia) and juniors Mike Struempf (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) and Will Milcovich (Walnut Creek, Calif.) each netted one a goal piece. In the contest, the Tigers scored two goals in the first period, one in the second, two in the third, and were shut out in the fourth
In the Tigers overtime loss to Navy, Bakic scored six goals to lead all scorers. Kaurloto added four of the Tigers' other six goals, while Milcovich and freshman Jonathan Pare (Westlake, Calif.) accounted for the other two.
The Tigers will resume action at the Navy Invitational on Sept. 2 in Annapolis, Md.
