Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific women's tennis team came back from a 3-2 deficit to defeat Harvard 4-3 in a match held Tuesday, March 27th at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts.

With the victory, the Tigers improve to 6-8, while the Crimson fall to 1-10.

Harvard took a 1-0 lead in the match by securing the doubles point before the Tigers fought back, even with odds stacked against them. Playing without No. 1 singles player, senior Vana Mrazovic (Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro), The Tigers were forced to move each player up one spot in the lineup during the singles portion of the meet.

Sophomore Clara Schuhmacher (Zaragoza, Spain) stepped up to the challenge, recording a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles over Vilsa Curto to pull the dual even at 1-1.

The Crimson regained a lead at 2-1 by winning the No. 3 singles position before Pacific would again tie the score as sophomore Jolanta Twarowska (Hamburg, Germany) took down Beier Ko at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-2 to make the match even at 2-2.

Harvard would come right back, taking the lead at 3-2 by winning the No. 2 singles contest, leaving the No. 4 and No. 5 singles matches to come.

No. 4 singles was first to finish, and it was Pacific who was victorious as sophomore Carla Tamborini (Arcadia, Calif.) took down Elizabeth Brook in a hard fought three game match 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 to tie the match up at 3-3.

In the deciding No. 5 singles, Pacific freshman Sasha Fisher (Southampton, Bermuda) came out on top, defeating Julia Forgie 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 to give the Tigers the match victory.

Pacific turns right around to host Cal Poly in Big West Conference Action on March 28th at 2pm.
