Los Angeles, Calif. - The Pacific women's tennis team fell to Loyola Marymount by a score of 7-0 on Saturday, March 24th at the LMU Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Tigers fall to 5-7, while Loyola Marymount improves to 8-7.
After LMU swept the Tigers in doubles action, Pacific fought hard with the Lions in singles competition, forcing extra points, a tiebreak, or a third game in all but one match. Freshman Svenja Arens (Bensburg, Germany) fought hard with No. 100 ranked Robyn Baker, falling 6-1, 7-6 at the No. 2 singles position. Junior Helen Schneider (Dernbach, Germany) dropped a tough 4-6, 7-6, 1-0 (8) decision to Tamara Tanner, while sophomore Carla Tamborini (Arcadia, Calif.) fell to Serena Fermin 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.
Playing without No. 1 singles player, senior Vana Mrazovic (Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro), The Tigers were forced to move each player up one spot in the lineup.
The Tigers will travel to Cal State Northridge on Sunday, March 25th for a Big West Conference matchup, set to begin at 11:00am.
