The Pacific men's basketball team dropped a 92-64 decision at Long Beach State on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Pyramid in Long Beach, Calif.
The Tigers are 8-13 overall, 4-4 in Big West Conference play, while the 49ers are 15-6, 6-2 in the Big West.
Pacific got down early, falling behind 13-3 in the first four minutes of the contest. The Tigers then scored the next seven points, including four points from sophomore Anthony Brown (Sacramento, Calif.). The 49ers then went on a 21-8 run to take a 34-18 lead with 5:44 left in the first half. After falling behind by 17 points, the Tigers outscored the 49ers 6-0 over the final 3:29 of the half to trail 40-29.
The 49ers took the momentum back to start the second half, using a 16-1 run to take a commanding 26-point lead (56-30) with 16:12 left in the game. Long Beach State's lead would not fall below 23 the rest of the way.
Brown was the only Tiger to score in double figures, getting 18 points to lead the team.
The 49ers shot 57.1% from the field, including 17-of-26 from the field in the second half (65.4%) in the second half.
The Tigers are next in action against Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, Feb. 8 in the Alex G. Spanos Center. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. for the Comcast SJTV telecast.
