Pacific Defeats Dons 5-2

Stockton, Calif. The Pacific women's tennis team recorded a 5-2 victory over San Francisco on Sunday, February 11th at Hal Nelson Tennis Courts.

With the win, the Tigers improve to 3-2 on the season, while USF falls to 1-3 on the season.

The Tigers took the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to win the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead into the singles matches, where the Dons put up a fight.

After junior Helen Schneider (Dernbach, Germany) defeated Lauren Hickey at the No. 6 singles position 6-3, 6-3, the Dons took the next two singles matches to finish, making the score 2-2 with three points left to be awarded.

Senior Vana Mrazovic (Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro) then sealed up the No. 1 singles bout, defeating Camille Pamart 6-4, 6-0 to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead. The Tigers closed out the final two matches to finish, with sophomore Jolanta Twarowska (Hamburg, Germany) clinching the Tiger victory with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Emma Taylor at No. 2 singles, and freshman Svenja Arens (Bensburg, Germany) winning a marathon 5-7, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (2) at the No. 3 singles spot over Mylene Martin.

The Tigers are next in action on February 24th as they open up Big West play by traveling to UC Irvine. Doubles play is scheduled to start at noon.
