Pacific Wins at USF, 84-57

San Fancisco, Calif. - The Pacific men's basketball team improved to 6-2 with an 84-57 win at San Francisco on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at War Memorial Gym. The Dons fell to 3-5 with the loss.

The Tigers hit their first four shots of the game in taking a quick 9-2 lead, including two dunks by junior Michael Nunnally (Stockton, Calif.). After the Dons cut the lead to 17-13, Pacific used a 10-1 over the next three minutes to extend the lead to 13 (27-14) with 6:49 left in the first half. The Tigers extended the lead to 18, leading 38-20 at halftime. Junior guards Chad Troyer (Seattle, Wash.) and Steffan Johnson (Kent, Wash.) led the Tigers in the first half, with Troyer scoring 11 points and Johnson adding 10 points.

The Dons scored the first basket of the second half, then Pacific used a 9-2 run to extend the lead to 23 (47-24) with 16:22 remaining, and would not lead by less than 19 the rest of the way.

The Big West Conference leader in field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, Pacific shot .542 (26-48) from the field, while holding the Dons to .327 (18-55) shooting from the field. The Tigers out-rebounded USF 46-24.

Troyer led the Tigers with 16 points, while Johnson added 14. Junior Anthony Brown (Sacramento, Calif.) scored 11 points and Sophomore Casey Neimeyer (Woodland, Calif.) had a career-high 10 points.

Dior Lowhorn led the Dons with 22 points.

Pacific is next in action with a home game against Pepperdine on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Alex G. Spanos Center.
