Santa Barbara, Calif. - The Pacific women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss to UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Oct. 28.
The loss dropped Pacific to 13-7 on the season and 6-5 in the Big West Conference. UC Santa Barbara, meanwhile, moved to 9-14 overall and 4-7 in Big West play.
Game scores for the match were: 28-30, 24-30, 30-21, 23-30.
Attacking errors did Pacific in during the first two games as the Tigers posting hitting percentages of .173 and .122 in the first two frames. UC Santa Barbara, meanwhile, committed just nine errors in games one and two to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
Pacific came out of the break significantly more focussed as the Tigers delivered 19 kills and committed just four errors on 43 attempts in the third game to post a match-high .349 hitting percentage. The dramatic shift allowed the Tigers to claw back into the match with a 30-21 win in game three.
Unfortunately the Tigers could not maintain the advantage as UC Santa Barbara posted a .394 hitting percentage in the fourth and final frame to claim the match, 30-23.
Junior Alexa Anderson (Los Gatos, Calif.) led all attackers with 17 kills, while sophomore Meagan MimMack (Upland, Calif.) posted 16 kills and an impressive .481 hitting percentage on the night. Freshman Svenja Engelhardt (Sinsheim, Germany) delivered her ninth double-double in the match with 13 kills and 14 digs.
Lauren McLaughlin led UC Santa Barbara with 14 kills in the match.
Pacific returns to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 30 as the Tigers travel to San Jose, Calif. to take on San Jose State at 7 p.m.
