Tigers drop 3-0 contest to Fresno State

Fresno, Calif. - The Pacific women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss at Fresno State on Saturday, Aug. 26 in the Fresno State Invitational.

Game scores for the match were 30-24, 30-19, 30-25.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 0-2 on the season, while Fresno State moved to 1-2.

Fresno State jumped out to an early lead in the first game as the Bulldogs scored the first six points and led by as much as seven at 9-2. Pacific, however, battled back throughout game one, finally pulling even with Fresno State at 21-21 on a kill from freshman Meagan MimMack (Upland, Calif.). Unfortunately, the Tigers could not get over the hump as the Bulldogs scored nine of the final 12 points to take the first game, 30-24.

Pacific once again dug an early hole in game two, falling behind 8-3. With the momentum in the Bulldogs favor, Fresno State poured on the pressure by extending their lead to double digits at 19-9. The Bulldogs closed out game two with three straight points to take a 30-19 win into the locker room at the break.

Hitting errors killed the Tigers in the final game as Pacific committed 10 errors, leading to a 30-25 win for Fresno State.

Junior Kara Uhl (Cypress, Calif.) paced Pacific with 10 kills, while junior Johanna Hilbers (Omaha, Neb.) finished with eight kills and a team-high hitting percentage of .286.

Fresno State's Angela Wiggins led all attackers with 18 kills in the match.

Pacific will conclude action in the Fresno State Invitational on Sunday, Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. against No. 25 Kansas State.
