Stockton, Calif. - Pacific has won 14 of the last 17 games and nine straight league games to climb into first place in the Big West ... Pacific defeated UC Santa Barbara 64-36 on Mar. 2, to sweep the season series from the Gauchos ... The Tigers play Cal Poly in the final home game of the season, featuring Senior Day.

Pacific 64, UC Santa Barbara 36: Christian Maraker delivered his 14th double-double of the season to lead the Pacific men's basketball team to a 64-36 win over UC Santa Barbara on Thursday, Mar. 2 ... With the victory, the Tigers improved their record to 21-7 (11-2 Big West) while UCSB fell to 13-13 (5-8 Big West) ... The victory clinched the Tigers at least a share of the Big West Conference title, and earned Pacific the No. 1 seed in the Big West Conference Tournament ... The Tigers own the tiebreaker over UC Irvine due to a season sweep of UCSB, while UC Irvine split their pair of games with the Gauchos ... Pacific came out from the opening tip and dominated UCSB, amassing a 22-0 lead with 10:38 to go in the first half on senior guard Johnny Gray's (Agoura Hills, Calif.) fourth consecutive field goal ... UCSB missed their first 15 shots from the field, before a tip-in by Cecil Brown with 10:14 remaining in the half made the score 22-2 ... Maraker completed his 14th double-double of the season by halftime as the senior forward scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the first half of play ... Pacific 70, Cal State Northridge 66: Pacific defeated Cal State Northridge 70-66 on Saturday, February 25 ... Tied at 57-57 with just over three minutes remaining, the Pacific men's basketball team converted on six consecutive offensive possessions to help earn the victory ... With the win the Tigers moved to 20-7 on the season and 10-2 in the Big West Conference ... Cal State Northridge fell to 10-15 overall and 3-9 in conference play ... The 20th victory of the season, marked the first time in school history that the Tigers have reached 20 wins in three consecutive seasons ... Junior Michael White (Capitola, Calif.) got things started for the Tigers as he nailed back-to-back free throws with 3:02 remaining to give the Tigers a 59-57 lead ... Following a Matadors miss, senior Johnny Gray (Agoura Hills, Calif.) grabbed the rebound, seconds later Gray scored on a scoop shot to make it a 61-57 contest with two minutes remaining ... The Matadors drew within two points on a jumped by Jonathan Heard, but Pacific responded as senior Christian Maraker (Varberg, Sweden) nailed a baby hook from the right side, pushing the lead back to four at 63-59, with under one minute left in the game ... The Tigers just needed to make free throws the rest of the way and Pacific did just that, as Gray and senior Mike Webb (Lancaster, Calif.) were a combined seven-of-eight from the charity stripe to seal the victory ... The Tigers led by as much as 12 points in the first half at 33-21 with 1:23 left and Pacific went in at the break with a 35-26 lead ... In the second half, Pacific pushed its lead back into double figures at 11 points (49-38) with 14:12 remaining, but Cal State Northridge scored 19 of the next 27 points to tie the game at 57-57 ... Cal State Northridge shot 70 percent from the field in the second half to get back in the game ... Webb led the Tigers with 23 points, while Gray finished with 14 and Maraker had 12 points and a team-high six rebounds.

Thomason is among 15 finalists for the award ... Thomason, the first-ever recipient of the award last year, has led the Tigers to a 20-7 overall record, 10-2 in the Big West Conference ... Previously known as simply the CollegeInsider.com mid-major coach of the year, the award was renamed in 2005 to recognize Hugh Durham who built national programs at Florida State and Georgia where he is the school's all-time winningest coach ... PACIFIC SIGNS FOUR FOR 2006-07: University of the Pacific Head Men's Basketball Coach Bob Thomason announced today the signing of four student-athletes to letters of intent for the 2006-07 season. Igor Fishbeyn, DeAngelo Garrett, Solomon HorseChief and C.J. Morgan will all enter Pacific in the fall of 2006. Fishbeyn is a 6-9 center from San Francisco, Calif. He is a sophomore at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz after spending his freshman season at Great Falls University in Montana. Last year at Great Falls, Igor averaged 7.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, while shooting 50% from the field and 57% from the free throw line. "Igor is a big, strong and skilled post player," said Thomason. "He has the ability to make three-pointers, as well as score on the block." Garrett comes to Pacific from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. A 6-8 forward/center, Garrett averaged 8.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game for the Jets last year as a freshman. The team captain, he shot 52% from the field and averaged a steal per game. "DeAngelo is a power forward who will be able to play center for us as well," said Thomason. "He will bring an excellent inside presence to the team. He is a great young man with a tremendous upside." HorseChief is a 6-3 guard from Redlands Community College in El Reno, Oklahoma. He averaged 8.2 points, 5.1 steals and 2.7 steals per game in his first year at Redlands. He was an All-Bi State League Honorable Mention selection after leading his team to a 27-4 record and undefeated mark in conference games. He graduated in 2004 from Sequoyah High School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He averaged 14.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.0 steals per game while as a senior in 2004. "Solomon is a very versatile guard and can play both guard spots," said Thomason. "He is a very smart, heady player, with an excellent feel for the game." Morgan is a 6-0 guard from Elk Grove, Calif. He is a senior at Franklin High School in Elk Grove, where he was an Sacramento Bee All-Metro selection after leading the team to a 25-7 record. Morgan set a Sac-Joaquin Section playoff record last season with 52 points in a semifinal victory over Modesto. He averaged 18.3 points and 3.4 rebounds per game last season at Franklin HS, earning all-leauge honors and team MVP accolades. He was chosen as a 2005-06 All-America Honorable Mention by Street and Smith's College Basketball 2005-06 Yearbook. "C.J. is a tremendous shooter who has range to 25 feet," said Thomason. "We feel he can come in and help us be successful at both guard positions."

NEIMEYER TO REDSHIRT: Tiger freshman Casey Neimeyer is redshirting the 2005-06 season ... He came to Pacific from Woodland Christian High School, where he was the Central Valley Christian League MVP his senior season ... He helped lead the Cardinals to a 13-1 league record in 2004-05 under coach Doug Brown ... He will also pitch for Pacific on the Tiger baseball team.

FLORES SUSPENDED: Senior center Miguel Flores has been suspended from the team indefinitely for academic reasons ... He averaged 2.9 points and 2.0 rebounds over the first 11 games.

HURLEY LEAVES TEAM: Freshman guard Kevin Hurley (Fresno, Calif.) has left the team for personal reasons ... Hurley appeared in just two games for the Tigers, scoring three points.
