Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific women's tennis team took a 5-2 duel match victory of UC Davis on Saturday, February 4, to improve to 3-1 on the season. With the loss the Aggies dropped to 0-3 for the year.

Pacific got off to a fast start, capturing the doubles point by taking all three doubles matches. The team of senior Natalia Kostenko (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) and freshman Carla Tamborini (Arcadia, Calif.) got the Tigers rolling with a perfect 8-0 win over Robin Guier and Jenna Kappel at No. 2 doubles.

The Tigers secured the match with three straight singles wins, taking down the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles positions before UC Davis could get on the board. Sophomore Helen Schneider (Dernbach, Germany) kicked things off for Pacific with a 6-3, 6-2, win at No. 6 singles. Schneider was perfect on the day, winning her doubles match with her partner freshman Clara Schuhmacher (Zaragoza, Spain), 8-6, at No. 3 doubles. Kostenko picked up her second win of the season at No. 1 singles, winning a hard fought 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10), victory over Ally Muller.

Pacific will next be in action on Saturday, February 11, as they play host to the Gaels of Saint Mary's. The match is scheduled to begin at 12:00 pm at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts.
