Flagstaff, Ariz. - The Pacific women's basketball team suffered a 74-59 loss at the hands of Northern Arizona on Thursday, December 7. With the loss the Tigers fell to 3-5 overall while the Lumberjacks improved to 6-4.
Down just four points at half, the Tigers were downed by the Lumberjacks early in the second half as Northern Arizona used a 19-4 run over the first six minutes of the half to break open the contest. The Lumberjacks fed off the hot hand of Kim Winkfield who posted 16 second half points, most coming off of four three-pointers.
The Tigers and Lumberjacks traded baskets for much of the second half, but down by double-digits, trading baskets would not be enough. Pacific would never get closer than the final 15 point deficit of the finale.
Freshman Jake Kelly (Sacramento, Calif.) led the Tigers with 18 points in the contest. In addition, Kelly pulled down three rebounds and dished out two assists. Sophomore Karen Dawkins (Colorado Springs, Colo.) saw her double-double streak come to an end as she finished the game with 14 points and seven rebounds. On the glass, sophomore Whitney Price (Las Vegas, Nev.) continued her torrid pace, posting 10 rebounds including eight first half boards.
On the other side of the court, Winkfield netted 24 points as she went 9-of-17 from the field and 6-of-12 from distance. Behind Winkfield, Alyssa Wahl posted 17 points and seven rebounds while Luara Dinkins tallied 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
The Tigers will next be in action on Saturday, December 9 as they travel to Cedar City, Utah to take on the Thunderbirds of Southern Utah. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 pm (PT).
