San Luis Obispo, Calif. - The Pacific women's basketball team dropped their final road match of the season, 3-0, to No. 17 Cal Poly on Saturday, Nov. 11.
With the loss, Pacific dropped to 7-18 on the season and 3-9 in the Big West Conference. Cal Poly, meanwhile, moved to 21-5 overall and 13-1 in conference play. The Mustangs' victory clinched the Big West Conference Championship for Cal Poly.
Game scores for the match were; 30-19, 30-24, 30-19.
Game one got off to a competitive start as the two teams battled through four ties in first 10 points. With Pacific trailing 10-9, the Mustangs claimed seven of the next nine points to build a 17-11 lead. The Tigers never recovered, dropping game one, 30-19. Cal Poly out hit the Tigers, .286 to .220 in the game.
Over games two and three, Pacific took themselves out of the match as the Tigers committed nine errors in game two and 13 errors in the third game. As a team, Pacific notched 23 kills and 22 errors on 84 attempts in the final two games as a Cal Poly completed the sweep with a 30-24 game two win and a 30-19 win in game three.
Pacific freshman Meagan MimMack (Upland, Calif.) led the Tigers with 11 kills in the match, while junior Julie Magud (Stockton, Calif.) had a match-high 19 digs.
Cal Poly's Kylie Atherstone finished with 11 kills, while Jaclyn Houston posted 10 kills on 16 attempts, without committing an error.
Pacific will return to action on Thursday, Nov. 16 as Pacific hosts UC Irvine in the Alex G. Spanos Center at 7 p.m.
