Pacific downed by Cal State Northridge, 3-0

Northridge, Calif. - The Pacific women's volleyball team dropped to 6-15 on the season with a 3-0 loss to Cal State Northridge on Thursday, Oct. 26.

With the loss the Tigers fell to 3-6 in the Big West Conference, while Cal State Northridge moved to 13-7 overall and 6-3 in conference play.

Game scores for the match were: 20-30, 29-31, 24-30.

Despite a solid performance by the Tigers, Pacific simply did not have an answere for Cal State Northridge on a night when the Matadors hit a season-high .419.

Cal State Northridge got off to a torrid start in game one as the Matadors slammed home 18 kills and committed just one error on 33 swings, posting a .515 hitting percentage en route to a 30-20 game one victory.

Pacific responded in game two as the Tigers battled back from a 28-24 deficit to tie the score at 29-29. Unfortunately, the Tigers were unable to close out the game as the Matadors notched the final two points to take a 31-29 win.

Game three featured seven ties in the first 18 points as the two teams battled back and forth. Tied at 9-9, the Matadors claimed control of the game with a 14-6 run to take a 23-15 lead. The Tigers got as close as three points at 26-23, but ran out of time down the stretch as the Matadors claimed the match, 30-24.

Pacific sophomore Alexa Anderson (Los Gatos, Calif.) led the Tigers with 13 kills in the match, while freshman Meagan MimMack (Upland, Calif.) finished with 11 kills.

Cal State Northridge's Harmony Burdine led all attackers with 16 kills, while Angela Hupp posted 12 kills.

For the match, the Matadors out hit Pacific, .419 to .264.

Pacific will return to the court on Saturday, Oct. 28 as the Tigers travel to Fullerton, Calif. to take on the Cal State Fullerton Titans in Titan Gym at 7 p.m.
