Box Score

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 contest to the Cal Poly Mustangs on Friday, Oct. 20.

With the loss the Tigers dropped 10-5-1 overall and 2-4 in the Big West Conference, while Cal Poly moved to 8-5-3 on the season and 2-0-3 in conference play.

Despite all of the action and pressure by both teams throughout the entire game, the contest decider came just 16:09 into the first half. In the 17th minute, Erica Zumbahlen put the Mustangs up for good with a strike into the lower left corner of the goal. Zumbahlen came free down the center of the offensive third, and into the six yard box where she took a centering pass from Ashley Vallis who had just stolen a clearance on the right sideline.

Down one goal at the break, Pacific pressed the action in the second half, all the way until the final whistle, but where unable to tally an evening strike. On the night the Mustangs outshot the Tigers 8-to-7 while junior Jaime Souza (Gig Harbor, Wash.) posted four saves in goal.

With the loss, Pacific was officially eliminated from Big West tournament contention. However, the Tigers still have the ability to post 12 wins this season which would mark the third highest wins total in program history.

The Tigers will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 22 as Pacific travels to Santa Barbara to take on the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos in their final Big West game of the year at 1 p.m.
