Box Score

Stockton, Calif. - For the second time this season after a five year drought, the Pacific women's soccer team pulled off a victory in double overtime, defeating the Brown University Bears, 1-0, on Friday, September 16. The win improved the Tigers to 5-2-1 overall while the Bears dropped to 3-4-0 on the season.

With 00:14 seconds left in the second overtime, freshman Nicci Leon (Valencia, Calif.) pulled off the biggest shot of her young career, netting the Tigers' game-winner in her first night of action in 2005. Leon drilled her game winning strike into the upper right corner of the net, banking the ball off the far post and into the back of the net after the Tigers were awarded a direct kick from just outside the box. The precision strike was Leon's first career collegiate goal.

Sophomore Mandi Van Dorn (Danville, Calif.) earned the Tigers' the direct kick as she was dragged down while attempting to head a free ball just outside the left corner of the penalty box. Van Dorn tallied three shots on the night as the Tigers' outshot the Bears 20-14 on the night. Junior Carmen Padilla (San Jose, Calif.) posted four shots for the game to lead the Tigers in shots along with Leon.

Sophomore 'keeper Jaime Souza (Gig Harbor, Wash.) earned her first shutout of the season, posting four saves in 109:46 minutes of action. Souza's best save of the night came with just over seven minutes to play in regulation as she was forced to make a diving save off a loose ball that was pushed towards the net after a centering throw in by the Browns.

In addition to the Tigers strong play, Bears' 'keeper Hilary Wilson had a fine performance in net as well, posting nine saves on 10 shots on goal. Brown was led offensively by Kathryn Moos and Meghan Schreck with three shots each.

The Tigers will next be in action on Friday, September 23, as they travel to San Diego, Calif. to take on the Aztecs of San Diego State. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
