Pacific drops to 4-5 in 2005 with 3-0 loss to Pepperdine

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Pacific Tigers fell to 4-5 on the season as the Tigers lost to Pepperdine, 3-0, on Sunday, Sept. 11 in the final round of the Nebraska Players Challenge. Game scores for the match were 30-15, 30-25, 30-17. With the win, Pepperdine moved to 3-3 on the year.

Pacific fell behind early in game one as Pepperdine took a 14-2 lead and went on to claim the first game 30-15.

Game two saw Pacific present its best hitting percentage of the Nebraska Players Challenge as the Tigers had 16 kills and 10 errors on 45 swings for a .133 average. Pepperdine, however, hit .316 in the game and edged the Tigers 30-25.

In the final and deciding game, Pacific once again fell behind early as the Waves scored 13 of the first 16 points and went on to claim the sweep, 30-17.

The Tigers were led by freshman Kelly Campbell (Mansfield, Ohio) and senior Sidney Bennett (Louisville, Ky.) as both Pacific players had seven kills in the match. For Campbell, the seven kills is her career-high. Pepperine had two players finish in double figures in kills as Julie Rubenstein had a match-high 16 kills and Lecca Roberts finished with 10 kills.

The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 14 as Pacific returns to the Alex G. Spanos Center to host Fresno State at 7 p.m.
