Pacific Falls To Top-Seeded Washington In NCAA Tournament Second Round, 97-79

BOISE, Idaho - The Pacific men's basketball team closed out its school-record season with a 27-4 record, following a 97-79 loss to top-seeded Washington in second round action of the 2005 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament on Saturday, Mar. 19, at Taco Bell Arena.

The Tigers, who posted a perfect 18-0 record this season in Big West Conference contests, have advanced to the NCAA Round of 32 each of the last two seasons.

With the win, Washington (29-5) advanced to the round of 16 for the first time since 1998.

The Huskies never trailed and pulled away from a seven-point halftime advantage by going 19-for-31 (61 percent) from the field in the second half. They finished shooting 56.3 percent (36-of-64) for the game.

Senior Guillaume Yango (Paris, France) led Pacific with 17 points and 10 rebounds on the afternoon. Junior Christian Maraker (Varberg, Sweden) added 12 points for the Tigers, but the forward was shut out of the scoring column in the second half.

Nate Robinson scored 18 of his game-high 23 points in the second half for Washington, while four other Huskies also reached double figures in scoring.

Pacific established new school records for conference (18) and overall (27) wins during the 2004-05 campaign. The Tigers also ran off a school-record 22-game winning streak from Dec. 21-Mar. 11.
