Pacific sweeps past UC Davis, 3-0

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific Tigers defeated UC Davis, 3-0, on Saturday, Nov. 5. Game scores for the match were, 30-25, 30-27, 30-27. With the win, Pacific moved to 14-10 on the season, while UC Davis dropped to 4-22 overall.

Trailing 15-10 in the first game, Pacific turned the match around by scoring 10 of the next 11 points to take a 20-16 lead. The Tigers would not relinquish the lead again as Pacific took game one, 30-25.

Pacific used another mid-game rally in the second game to take control. Leading 16-14, the Tigers scored six straight points as sophomore Kara Uhl (Cypress, Calif.) had two kills during the run and Pacific forced UC Davis into four errors to take a 22-14 lead. The Tigers went on to take a 2-0 lead with a 30-27 win. Pacific out hit the Aggies .271 to .224 in the second game as Pacific had a match-high 20 kills in game two.

Pacific swept the match with a 30-27 win in game three and Pacific forced UC Davis into eight attacking errors as UC Davis hit .174 in game three. The Tigers, meanwhile, posted a .267 hitting percentage with 18 kills and just six errors on 45 attempts.

Senior Ashley Groothuis (Aurora, Neb.) led the Tigers with 16 kills and 16 digs. Nicole Read led UC Davis with 12 kills.

Pacific will be back in action on Thursday, Nov. 10 as the Tigers host UC Santa Barbara at 7 p.m. in the Alex G. Spanos Center at 7 p.m.
