Justine Brown-Dacosta

Justine Brown-Dacosta joined the Pacific staff in December 2022 as the Coordinator of Student-Athlete Development. She was promoted to Director of Student-Athlete Development in June 2023. 

Brown-Dacosta was most recently at The Ohio State University where she was employed as an assistant academic counselor for the student-athlete support services office. In this position, she academically supported student-athletes from five different men’s and women’s teams. She monitored student-athlete academic progress for graduation, eligibility, and compliance purposes, and reported this progress to coaches. Some other important duties included tracking admission progress for incoming student and meeting with recruits and their families to aid with the recruiting process.

While earning her master’s degree at Georgia Southern, she held several roles that helped to develop students-athletes mentally and academically. She served as a sport performance consultant, helping athletes to develop cognitive skills that would help them achieve their potential in their sport and life.

In June 2021, she began working with student-athlete services at Georgia Southern as an assistant academic advisor for football. Some of her duties included assisting student-athletes in registration and scheduling as well as tracking their academic progress to ensure eligibility and progress towards graduation.

She also served as an assistant learning specialist for student-athlete services. In this position, she supported seven different men’s and women’s teams in a study hall setting. She provided high-support student-athletes with time management techniques and study strategies to assist in academic achievement. 

Brown-Dacosta received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a Bachelor of Science degree in sports management from University of Saint Mary in 2019. She also received a Master of Science in kinesiology with a concentration in sport exercise and psychology from Georgia Southern University in 2022.

She is a member of the National Association of Academics and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP).
