Ify Agwuenu

Ify Agwuenu will join the Pacific staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2015-16 track and field season. 

Agwuenu wrapped up her collegiate career in 2012, winning the shot put a the Big Sky Championships and advancing to the NCAA West Preliminary. At that meet, she set the Sacramento State record with a put of 52-02.50. She also finished second in the discus and was fourth in the hammer. During the 2012 indoor season, Agwuenu finished second in both the shot put and weight throw to earn all-Big Sky honors. For her career, Agwuenu was a four-time NCAA Championships qualifier, a three-time Big Sky champion and five-time all-Big Sky honoree. As a team captain, she helped the Hornets to a Big Sky team title each season.

She also holds the Sacramento State ecord in the indoor and outdoor shot put as well as the weight throw.

Following her senior season, Agwuenu earned the Hornet Award which is given to the Sacramento State student-athlete which best exemplifies the spirit of a Hornet with their sportsmanship and community service. Agwuenu earned the award after founding Bio-Corps which is a service organization through the biology department. She also volunteered with a therapeutic horse riding club, the fire fighter burn institute, Habitat for Humanity and works summer camps at her high school.
