Biography

2016:
Hess paired with Katrin Gotterba and went 2-5 on the year.  She also worked with Mia Feiner, a pairing that went 2-6.  She put up two straight games of 20+ digs with 21 against Santa Clara and 25 against Boise State.  In that Santa Clara game, Hess hit .531 with 18 kills to just one error.  She hit .237 overall, finishing the year with 130 kills and six games of ten or more kills.  Hess also had 27 service aces on the year and blocked four shots.

Previous School (Cal State Northridge):
Hess spent the fall semester playing for the Matadors. In her first season of collegiate volleyball Hess saw action in 21 matches while starting 16 contests despite being forced to play out of position due to injuries around her. She received All-Tournament honors as a freshmen at the University of Arizona where she played primarily in the middle but still played all six rotations. She would finish the season with 48 kills and, 54 digs, and 29 blocks in 58 total sets played. 

High School:
A graduate of Valley Christian High School where she was a standout player as she led Valley Christian to a Div. III State Championship as well as a NorCal championship. As a senior, Hess was nominated for Under Armour All-American honors, All-Fresno Bee Team and was named to the AVCA Phenom List. At the club level, Hess has played for the Red Rock Volleyball Club in Redwood City, Calif.

Personal:
Jess Hess is the daughter of Sheri and Mike Hess. She has one sister, Sarah and one brother, Geno.
