Davin Johnson enters his secondseason at Pacific in 2011-12. A defensive specialist, Johnsonhelped the Tigers lower their field goal percentage allowed andpoints per game in 2010-11, while Pacific became a force on theglass.
Six years ago Johnson became theco-founder and head coach of the NorCal Elite Basketball Club wherehis program and his players have been recognized on a nationallevel as being one of the top AAU girls basketball programs in theUnited States. NorCal Elite has recruited players from all over thenorth state, including Sacramento, Stockton, San Francisco, SanJose, Fairfield, Reno, Chico, Redding, Eureka, and Gilroy amongmany other cities. NorCal Elite was also the first girls team inNorthern California to have a player from overseas (Japan)participate in Exposure tournaments in the summer.
In addition to coaching AAU,Johnson also started a basketball training business nine years agothat offered personal basketball lessons, camps, and clinics. Thisbusiness was renowned for offering some of the best basketballtraining techniques in Northern California. Through these services,Johnson personally trained men and women collegiate players, aswell as men playing professionally overseas and women playing inthe WNBA.
Johnson has helped over 50 girls goon to receive basketball scholarships in college, as well aspersonally trained and coached elite players, McDonald'sAll-American and state record holders. Johnson began his coachingcareer nine years ago as the Boys Varsity Basketball Coach atForest Lake Christian in Auburn, California. Originally from SanDiego, Johnson grew up playing basketball in Monterey, Calif.before attending Grand Canyon University on a basketballscholarship.
Later, he moved to Sacramento wherehis family has resided for the last 13 years.
