Alexis (Mezzetta) Thomas joined the Pacific women's basketball staff as an assistant on June 1, 2015. Prior to Pacific, she'd been on the staff at Loyola Marymount.
Thomas spent the previous three seasons at LMU under head coach Charity Elliot and was promoted to associate head coach after the 2012-13 season. Thomas served as the Lions recruiting coordinator, bringing an influx of young talent to LMU including WCC All-Freshmen Team members Makenzie Cast and Leslie Lopez-Wood, with Lopez-Wood also earning All-WCC Honorable Mention accolades. Her 2015 recruiting class featured the ninth-ranked point guard by Prospect Nation, two WBCA High School All-America Honorable Mention players, as well as the 61st rated forward according to ESPN.
Prior to LMU, Thomas was a part of Elliott's staff at her alma mater, UC San Diego, beginning in 2008-09 and was actively involved in all aspects of coaching, including scouting, player development and travel. She also oversaw the program's recruiting and alumni programs. As recruiting coordinate for the Tritons, the talent assembled by Thomas helped the Tritons tie and break the program's all-time mark for victories in a season with a 27-win season in 2008-09 and 30 wins in 2011-12.
Thomas was on staff during one of the most successful stretches in program history, as UCSD has posted an overall record of 102-24 and won three CCAA Championships during her time with the team. The Tritons reached the No. 1 spot in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll for the first time in program history, spending seven weeks ranked number one. Triton players earned five All-America honors, four all-region honors, two regional Player of the Year awards, five First Team All-Conference awards and three conference MVP honors.
She was a four-year standout for the Tritons, including her senior campaign under Elliot, before joining the UCSD staff. As a player, Thomas helped UCSD to three consecutive NCAA DII Tournament appearances and a trip to the DII Final Four in 2006-07, playing 102 games while averaging 2.4 assists per contest. Thomas finished her career ranked in the top 10 in several categories at UCSD, and currently ranks second all-time in career assists with 247, ninth in career three-pointers made with 54 and 10th in career games played with 102. During her four years with the program, the Tritons recorded an overall record of 92-30.
A three sport athlete at Justin-Siena High School in Napa, Thomas is a native of Sonoma, Calif., Thomas graduated from UCSD in 2008 with a degree in biology. She went on to earn her Master's in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University in Irvine in 2009. She married her husband Paul in the summer of 2016.
