2013-14 Swimming and Diving
Biography
2016-17 (Senior):
Swimming in the 500 Free, Ai put up a 4:59.18 time. He was also on the 200 Free Relay team that swam a 1:29.54 against UC Santa Cruz.
2015-16 (Junior):
Ai spent most of the season with the water polo team, where he scored 14 goals in 28 games. He swam freestyle events for the Tigers. Ai made the MPSF All-Academic Team for his excellence in the classroom.
2014-15 (Sophomore):
Ai once again competed in all the freestyle events for the Tigers. He came within two seconds of his personal best in the 1650 Free, finishing in 15:58.83. Ai had the second-fastest time in the 1000 Free of any Tiger and fastest of any returner with a 9:39.46.
2013-14 (Freshman):
In his first year in the pool, Ai was one of the top freestylers for the Tigers. Swimming all of the freestyle events for the Tigers, Kale''s best times came at the MPSF championships where he was part of the 800 Free Relay team that just missed setting a school record in the event as they came in at 6:36.50. Additionally, his best times of the year came at the conference meet where he smashed his previously bests including posting a 15:56.41 in the 1650 Free, nearly :21 seconds faster than his previous best.
High School:
Kale spent four years in the pools of Kamehameha High School in Honolulu, Hawaii before graduating in 2013. He was a two-sport athlete in the pool as a distance freestyler while also playing on the boy''s water polo team. One of the top distance swimmers in Hawaii, Kale earned First Team All-Hawaii as a senior while helping lead the Warriors to their second straight state title as a team. He was a member of the 4x50 and 4x100 freestyle relay teams that set Hawaii state high school records during his time at Kamehameha. In Water Polo, Ai was the conference''s Player of the Year as a senior as a ultility man for the Warriors.
Personal:
Kale Ai was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and is the son of Polly and Curt Ai. He has two older siblings, Kirby and Kehau. He is pursuing a degree in engineering management.
