Biography

2014 (Junior):
A preseason All-WCC selection at utility/non-pitcher, Alex was a mainstay in the Tiger lineup in 2014, Alex started all 48 games for the Tigers, splitting time between catcher and first base. Steinmehl recorded nine extra-base hits including a home run against Santa Clara on April 5. She recorded six multi-hit games, including four in conference play. Against Loyola Marymount on April 12 Steinmehl roped a pair of doubles, recording two-RBI and scoring a run. In conference play, Steinmehl hit .244 with 11 hits and 5 RBI.

2013 (Sophomore):
Taking a step forward in her play, Alex made an impact for the Tigers as both a catcher and at first base when injuries called her into service in the infield. In her second year, Steinmehl played in 34 games while starting 32 contests including starting the 20 of 24 conference contests. Overall, she hit .266 at the plate while posting seven extra-base hits including tagging a pair of home runs. For Steinmehl, her first career home run came in walk-off fashion as she blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Tigers'' to a 6-5 win over Long Beach State on April 14.

2012 (Freshman):
A walk-on in her first year at Pacific, Alex played the role as the Tigers'' back-up catcher. She saw action in two games throughout the year with her first action coming against East Carolina on Mar. 9. Against the Pirates, Alex picked up her first collegiate at bat. She saw her first action in the field on Mar. 25 catching the final inning against St. Mary''s. After the season, Alex was named a NFCA Academic All-America honors for her work in the classroom.

High School:
A graduate of Marana High School in 2011, Steinmehl was a standout catcher and third baseman for the Tigers throughout her career.  One of the top players in the area, Steinmehl earned honorable mention All-Arizona honors as named by the Arizona Republic as a senior as well as earning All-Arizona Interscholastic Association First Team honors.

Personal:
Born in Tarzana, Calif., Alexandra Steinmehl is the daughter of Robin and Douglas Steinmehl.  She has two brothers, Kurtis and Trevor.  In her fourth year at Pacific, Alex is a biological sciences major.
