Biography

2010 (Junior):
Mattern saw action in four contests for the Tigers.

Junior College (Santa Rosa JC): 
 Mattern graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College, where he swam and played water polo for the Bear Cubs. In 2009, Mattern earned First-Team All-America honors in swimming (200 Breast) and Second-Team All-America honors in water polo (center).

High School: 
Mattern graduated from Ukiah High School in Ukiah, Calif., where he earned four letters in swimming and three letters in water polo. As a junior, Mattern earned second team all-league honors.

Personal: 
Mattern is the son of John and Inger Mattern and has two older siblings, Leif and Shayne. In his second year at Pacific, he is pursuing a degree in communication.
