Biography
2019 (Senior)
Played in all 23 games for the Tigers in 2019, finishing third on the team with 43 goals and fourth with 46 points. Tallied the third-highest shot percentage for UOP (.544) while also notching a team-high 29 drawn exclusions. Colak averaged 2.09 goals per game and scored nine goals in GCC play, both ranking in the top 10 in the conference. An All-GCC First Team honoree for the third year in a row, he became the program's fifth ever four-time ACWPA All-American, joining Dragic Bakic, Balazs Erdelyi, Brad Schumacher and Goran Tomasevic.
2018 (Junior)
Colak picked up where he left off his junior year with the Tigers, starting in all 24 matches for the Orange and Black and registering 11 hat tricks with seven goals against UC Irvine (10/12). Notched at least three goals in Pacific's first four games of the season and ended the year with a hat trick in three of Pacific's final five games. Ranked second on the team with 66 goals and shot .349 for the year, leading Pacific with 29 drawn exclusions. Earned All-GCC First Team and a spot on the All-GCC Tournament Team, as well as ACWPC All-American honors.
2017 (Sophomore)
An ACWPC All American and All-GCC First Team selection, Colak appeared in all 27 matches for Pacific, finishing second on the team with 72 goals. Scored in 25 of the Tigers' 27 matches, including 14 hat tricks and 18 multi-goal performances. Scored four or more goals on seven occasions during the year and tallied a career-best eight goals against No. 15 Cal Baptist (9/9). Added hat tricks in the NCAA opening round against No. 17 Pomona Pitzer (11/25) and NCAA Quarterfinal against No. 9 UC Davis (11/30). Drew 32 exclusions to lead Pacific and finished with a .507 shooting percentage. Also recorded seven assists and 17 steals.
2016 (Freshman)
Colak led the Tigers and tied for second in the GCC with 49 goals and ranked third on the team with 57 points. He scored in 23 of 26 games with 17 multi-goal games and posted seven hat tricks to earn Second Team All-GCC honors, CWPA All-American honors and win 2016 GCC Newcomer of the Year. Scored a career-high five goals against Air Force (9/23) and added six hat tricks. Drew 69 exclusions on the season to lead Pacific. Posted assists in seven games, notching two against No. 6 Stanford (11/5). Also recorded nine steals.
High School/Club
Engin Ege Colak joined the Tigers from Private Istek Acibadem High School in Istanbul, Turkey. The attacker has played with both the men's and youth water polo teams at Galatasaray Sports Club and the Turkish Youth Men's and Men''s National Water Polo teams. He was the top scorer in the Istanbul Cup, which featured a match against the U.S. Youth Men''s National Team in July of 2014.
