Biography

Junior (2010-11):
Pope played a role in Pacific’s win in the Tri Meet on Jan. 22, swimming as part of the third-place 200 Free Relay and fifth-place 400 Medley Relay teams.

Sophomore (2009-10):
Pope took 13th place in the 1000 Free (9:51.19), 14th in the 1650 Free (16:51.51), and 16th in the 500 Free (4:39.90) at the 2010 Big West Championships. Against Denver on Nov. 7, he placed fourth in the 50 Free and fifth in the 100 Free with times of 22.81 and 49.76, respectively.

Freshman (2008-09):
Pope capped his freshman season with a 13th-place finish in the 1000 Free (9:47.84), a 16th-place finish in the 500 Free (4:43.73), and a 17th-place finish in the 200 Free (1:43.73) at the 2009 Big West Championships. He had a fifth-place finish in the 1650 Free at the Pacific Invitational on Oct. 17, touching the wall at 17:35.43.

Lahainaluna HS (‘08):
Pope graduated from Lahainaluna High School in Hawaii, where he lettered in swimming. The Lunas were three-time state champions from 2006 to 2008, and Pope won the 200 and 500 Free races for his school.

Personal:
Pope was born in Lahaina, Hawaii, and is the son of John and Paula Pope. He has one sister, Laura. Pope is majoring in English and hopes to earn a credential in the future to teach English.
