Biography
2009-10 (Junior):
Hernandez capped off his first season at Pacific by setting personal best times in the 100 Fly (51.76) and 200 Fly (1:57.32) during the Big West Championships. David also set a personal best time in the 100 Free (50334) against UC Davis, in which he finished in sixth place in the event.
2007-09 (Junior College):
At Santa Rosa JC, Hernandez earned All-American honors from 2008-09 and was named to the Big 8 All-Conference honors in 2009. Academically, Hernandez made the Dean's List each of his four semesters and was named the 2009 Male Junior College Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
High School:
David graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, Calif., where he was a two-sport athlete in swimming and wrestling.
Personal:
David Hernandez was born in Chico, Calif., and is the son of Mike and Jill Hernandez. He has two older siblings, Sarah and Nick, and two younger siblings, Henry and Grace. His older sister Sarah was an All-American swimmer at the University of Wisconsin from 2003-06. Hernandez's older brother Nick wrestled at Cal Poly and was a NCAA qualifier in 2006. In his second year at Pacific, Hernandez is studying sport sciences.
