Biography

2014 (Senior):
Alex Obert redshirted the 2014 campaign to be eligible for the 2015 season. Participated with the US Men''s National Team over the summer of 2014 at the FINA World Cup in Almaty, Kazakhstan (August 19-24) where he scored six goals, helping USA to a fourth-place finish. Also scored three goals for USA at the FINA World League Super Final in Dubai, UAE (June 16-21). Scored four goals in helping Team USA to gold at the 2014 FINA Intercontinental Tournament.

2013 (Junior):
Obert earned Second Team All-America honors from the AWPCA after scoring 44 goals in 28 games, which ranked 17th in the MPSF. With Tomasevic and Obert both primary centers, Obert shuffled between a variety of different roles to allow both players to be in the pool simultaneously. He finished third on the squad in scoring, with 1.57 goals per game and posted goals in 24 of 28 games. He tallied 11 multi-goal games, including a season-high four against UC Davis. He posted a pair of goals in the NCAA Semifinal win over Stanford, including the game-winner. He also earned MPSF All-Academic honors.


Sophomore (2012):
Moving to the center position in his second year at Pacific, Obert showed he has the ability to be one of the nation''s top two-meter players. His status was cemented as he earned Second Team All-America honors from the ACWC after racking up 51 goals on the season and averaging 2.32 scores per game, good for ninth in the MPSF. Obert recorded 15 multi-goal games despite missing three matches due to injury. He set a career high with five scores in the Tigers'' overtime upset win over then-No. 4 California at the SoCal Tournament before tying that mark against UC Davis on Oct. 5. He led Pacific in scoring with 10 goals at the MPSF Tournament and was tabbed a Second Team All-MPSF pick.

Freshman (2011):
In his first season at Pacific, Obert flashed tremendous potential in his role as a two-meter defender. Playing in all 26 of the Tigers’ matches, he started the season scoring in Pacific’s first three matches. He finished the year with eight goals, including a pair of scores in the Tigers’ sudden death loss to UC Irvine at the MPSF Tournament. Obert added nine steals, three assists, 13 drawn ejections and four field blocks.

2010 (Junior College):
Obert grey-shirted one year at Sierra College in Rocklin, Calif.

High School:
Obert prepped at Del Oro High School, where he was an All-America and First Team All-CIF selection in 2009. He was also an All-American swimmer in both the 400 and 200 Free Relay. Obert earned three letters in water polo and two in swimming.

Personal:
Obert was born in Yorba Linda, Calif., and is the son of David and Kristin Obert. He has one sister, Isabelle, who plays volleyball at Butler. Obert’s hobbies include hanging out with friends and swimming. He plans to pursue a degree in Bioengineering and desires to become an engineer.
