Biography

2017-18 (Junior):

Played in one tournament, the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational. Posted a score of 71 in the final round. 

2016-17 (Sophomore):
In his second season at Pacific, Mateo was featured in three tournaments for Pacific.  His best round came at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational where he shot two over on the first day of the tournament. 

2015-16 (Freshman):
Mateo redshirted his first season at Pacific.

High School:
An Ecuadorian import, Mateo will came to Pacific after distinguishing himself as one of the single best amateur golfers in his home country. For seven-straight seasons, Leon has been the Ecuador National Champion in his age group culminating in being ranked the No. 1 amateur player in Ecuador in 2014. He set a record at the Ecuador National Junior Championships after shooting -10 during the three day championship event. In addition to winning the Ecuadorian title, Leon took home the the Peru National Junior Championship with a final round of 66 to take the trophy. His work on the course gave him bids to play in the 2014 PGA Tour Latinoamerica while also playing in the 2012 R&G Junior Open in England. His play earned him a spot as part of Team Ecuador as one of the six amateur golfers to join seven professionals that make up the team. He has represented his country over 37 times prior to this year including the Andes Cup, South American tournament to be held in Cordoba, Argentina.
