Biography

Summer (2014):
Meth had a busy summer after taking home the WCC title as a junior. Most notably, Meth won the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship (APL) as the Tiger ace took home the title in a hard fought finals matchup against Doug Ghim on July 19. Meth was able to persevere in the end against a very game competitor as the soon to be senior won the tournament on the first playoff hole after squaring the match on the 36th and final hole of regulation play. He put up a good fight in the U.S. Amateur one month later, advancing to the round of 16 in match-play. He received the Jack O’Keefe Athlete of the Year Award from the Stockton Athletic Hall of Fame as well for his work on the course throughout the year.

2013-14 (Junior):
Continuing to add to his trophy collection, Meth was named to the All-West Coast Conference First Team for his play during his junior season. Throughout the season, Meth was the Tigers'' top golfer as he finished with eight top-20 finishes including four top-10 finishes and a pair of top-3 awards. The culmination of Meth''s season came at the 2014 WCC Championships when the third-year golfer put it all together to win his first collegiate tournament and first conference title. Leading from the outset, Meth dismantled the field in Bremerton, Wash. as he won by seven strokes after posting an eight-under, 208, for the championships. At the tournament, Meth posted his finest round of the season to kick start his championship run as he fired a -6, 66 on day one to put himself in the drivers seat. His eight-under performance also marked a season best for the junior, beating out his previous best of an even-par finish at the Oregon Duck Invitational back on March 25. In Eugene, Meth had finished in a tie for third, his best finish of the season until his performance at the WCC Championships. He would take home a top-five finish at the NCAA Regionals in May, just missing the cut for the NCAA Championships.

2012-13 (Sophomore):
One of just three veterans on the squad in 2012-13, Meth took home four top-10 finishes in his second year of action including a pair of top-5 finishes. During the year, Byron''s top finish came at the Bandon Dunes Championship where he tied for third at -2. Despite finishing in 23rd at the Big West Championships, it was Byron''s 50-foot eagle put during the playoff action that got pushed the Tigers'' over the top for the conference title. For his play throughout the year, Meth earned all-conference honorable mention honors. Not to be left out of the fun over the summer of golf success, Meth etched his name atop the standings at the San Diego City Amateur Championship over the weekend to take home his first title of the summer. For the three-round tournament, Meth posted a -5, as he closed the final day of play with a -2 to stake his claim at the top. Meth would win the championship in a one-hole playoff over Bryan Shin after the two tied at 211 after 54-holes.

2011-12 (Freshman):
A top contributor for the Tigers as a freshman, Byron played in all but one of Pacific''s tournaments in 2011-12 as he made his debut on Oct. 17 at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational. In his first season of play, Meth picked up a pair of top-5 finishes as the freshman grabbed a 4th place finish at the Fresno Lexus Classic (Mar. 5-6) and a 5th place finish at the Winchester Intercollegiate (April 20-22). At the Fresno Lexus Classic, Meth posted his first tournament score in the red as he tallied a -1, 215. On the year, Byron shot six round of par or better and picked up one round in the 60s when he fired off a 69 on the first day of play at the Big West Championships.

High School:
A graduate of Patick Henry HS in San Diego, Calif., Meth proved to be one of the top amateur golfers in the country during his prep career, not only in high school events but also on the amateur golf circuit.  Showing off his talents against some of the world''s best, Meth took home one of the biggest championships in his young career with a win at the Aaron Baddeley International Junior Championships during the summer of 2011.  The victory gave him automatic exemptions into the Australian Open and the JBWere Masters, Australia''s premier Championship tournaments.  In addition to his championship at the junior world tournament, Meth took home four other junior amateur titles throughout his time in high school.  On the high school links, Meth was a two-time Eastern League Player of the Year and three time team MVP and three-time first team all-league golfer during his three varsity seasons.

Personal:
Byron Meth is the son of Carrie and Simon Meth.  He has one older sister, Halli.  Byron is a business administration major in his fourth year at Pacific.
