Biography

2009-10 (Junior):
Grieb saw action at the Del Walker and played as an individual at the Bill Cullum Invitational. His low round of the year was a 75 during the final round of the Del Walker.
2008-09 (Sophomore):
Finished seventh at the San Diego Amateur at Torrey Pines in the summer of 2009. Played in three other qualifiers leading up to his junior season.
Summer 2008:
Alex's summer was highlighted by winning the US Amateur Qualifier by six shots and earning a trip to the US Amateur in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Grieb, shot back to back rounds of 68 at Sycuan Resort in San Diego. At the Amateur he opened with a 78 at Pinehurst No. 2 and came back with a 75 at the No. 4 course. He also qualified for the Cal State Amateur with a 2-under 70 at El Camino Country Club in May. At the Amateur Championship in June he shot rounds of 78-78 at Lakeside and Oakmont Country Club. In July he took fifth at the Golden State Tour's event at the SCGA Course; posting rounds of 67-77. In all three Golden State tournaments that Grieb participated in, he finished in the Top 10. Over the summer he also posted a season low 65, hitting only eight greens but having just 19 putts.
2007-08 (Freshman):
Grieb made an impact for the Tigers right at the beginning of his collegiate career, playing in all five of Pacific's Fall tournaments. He took home a Top 20 in his first event, a 19th place finish at the Adam's Cup of Newport in September. Following that he contributed to the Tigers at the Husky Invitational and The Prestige. He fired rounds of 76-73-72 at the Del Walker in Long Beach and came back with a 75-73-76 at Pacific's own Pacific Invitational in November.
High School:
A resident of San Diego, Grieb attended Rancho Bernardo High School where he was named his school's Most Outstanding Athlete during his senior season. Holding most of the golf records at his high school Grieb is looking to set some new ones at Pacific. Dating back to last season Alex finished second in three straight California Junior Tour tournaments. He was a member of Junior America's Cup in 2005 and the team that won in 2006. He was the San Diego Player of the Year in 2005; placing tenth at Junior Worlds. His career low is a 63 at the SDJGA Craig Stadler Tournament where he shot rounds of 71-76-63.-67.
