Stephen Malcolm

Stephen Malcolm joins the Tigers for the 2020 season to coach the infielders, third base and base-running. Prior to Pacific, Malcolm worked for San Joaquin Delta College as an assistant coach from 2015-2019. 

While at Delta College, Malcolm worked with the infielders, hitters baserunners while coaching third base.

During his stint with the Mustangs, 42 position players transferred to four-year colleges and three went on to sign professional contracts. With Malcolm on staff, Delta made Final Four appearances in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019, including a State Title in 2018 and finishing as runner-up in 2015. In 2016, Delta concluded their season second in the Big 8 and eighth in the state in fielding percentage (.967). In 2017, Malcolm's entire infield earned All-Big 8 honors after leading the conference in fielding percentage and finishing 10th in the state (.970). In 2018, the infield placed third in the state and first in the conference in fielding percentage (.975). 

Prior to coaching, Malcolm starred at Tokay HS in Lodi where he lettered in basketball and baseball all four years and earned T-CAL MVP honors in 2007 and 2008 in baseball. Malcolm attended UC Irvine on a baseball scholarship for one year, but decided to transfer to Delta where he played shortstop and closed for the Mustangs in 2010. Malcolm accepted a scholarship to Virginia Tech after the season, but opted to sign professionally with the Philadelphia Phillies instead. After his time in the minors, he spent two years (2014 and 2015) playing in the Independent Professional Baseball League in Texas before retiring. 

Malcolm earned two associate degrees from Delta College as well as a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Sacramento State.
