McCormick enters his seventh seasonwith the Tigers in 2015, and his fifth as pitching coach.Additionally, McCormick assumed the recrutiing duties for theTigers in 2015.

A mechanics guru, he helped Pacificput together a strong pitching performance led by sophomore JakeJenkins canedacy for WCC pitcher of the Year. Under McCormick'sguide, Jenkins finished the conference season 6-1 overall with a1.71 ERA en route to All-WCC First Team honors. Prior toJenkins, Pacific placed two pitchers in the top of the leaderboards in innings pitched in 2011. In 2010, Tigers’ All-BigWest relief pitcher Hunter Carnevale was selected by the New YorkMets in the MLB Draft, and posted a 1.08 ERA for Class A Brooklynin 2011.

Prior to joining the Tigers’ coaching staff, McCormickserved as a volunteer assistant coach for the Sacramento Statebaseball program during the 2008 season. With the Hornets,McCormick was primarily responsible for coaching catchers andworking with hitters, practice drills and general recruiting.

McCormick spent eight seasons over two stints as an assistantcoach at Chico State, serving as the recruiting coordinator from2005-07, the hitting coach in 2004 and a volunteer assistant from1998 to 2001. One of the highlights of his time with Chico Statewas the 1999 team that went on to win a Division II nationalchampionship. During his eight seasons at Chico State, McCormickhelped guide the Wildcats to five appearances in the Division IICollege World Series, including a second place finish in 2006.

During the 2002 and 2003 seasons, McCormick served as the GavilanCommunity College head baseball coach and a physical educationinstructor. During his time with Gavilan, McCormick also served asBay Area-Silicon Valley scout for the Atlanta Braves’organization. In 2000 he was the hitting coach for the Mat-suMiners in the Alaska Baseball League which operates during thesummer upon the conclusion of the NCAA season.

Mike earned a Master of Arts in education and physical educationfrom Azusa Pacific in 1998 and a Bachelor of Arts in geography fromChico State in 1995 after transferring from Long Beach City Collegein 1993. During his undergrad career, McCormick played at firstbase and as a catcher from 1991-93 with Long Beach City and thenfinished out his career with Chico State.

McCormick and his wife Melissa currently reside in Elk Grove,Calif. Their son, Hank, was born in February of 2010.
