PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES
Use of a student-athlete’s name, picture or appearance to support any charitable, educational or nonprofit promotional activities requires written approval from the Assistant Director of Compliance, as there are specific conditions that make these activities permissible. These conditions include, but are not limited to:
- Student-athletes may not miss class to participate in the activity;
- All funds raised from the activity/project must go directly to the institution, conference, or the charitable, educational or nonprofit agency;
- The specific activity or project does not involve co-sponsorship, advertisement or promotion by a commercial agency; and
- The student-athlete and an authorized representative of the charitable, educational or nonprofit agency must sign a release statement ensuring the student-athlete’s name, image or appearance is used in a manner consistent with all the guidelines.
