Who are the Tiger Dancers?
The Tiger Dancers bring a tremendous amount of energy to each and every Pacific home game! Modeled after professional NBA & NFL dance teams, the Tiger Dancers perform all styles of dance, from hip hop and jazz to straight arm pom and novelty. The Dance Team learns routines to music by the Pacific Pep Band and recorded music for basketball halftime performances.
Squad members must also be familiar with cheerleading arm motions and be able to work with pom poms for a majority of the band dances and cheers. Tumbling is not required. The Tiger Dancers are chosen based on dance ability, style and showmanship. Team Members must be fulltime undergraduate or graduate students and have a minimum 2.0 grade point average. The dance team gives an opportunity for members interested in choreography to showcase their material at performances. Tiger Dancers need to purchase specified dance shoes and nylons/tights for performances. All other uniform items are provided.
The Tiger Dancers attend the USA College/Pro Resort Camp in Anaheim each summer and compete in the USA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Competition.
What is the Tiger Dancers' season and practice schedule?
The Tiger Dancers will begin their year in late August. The team performs from September to March attending home women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball games. The season ends in March with the West Coast Conference Tournament, but the Tiger Dancers continue supporting their teams through the postseason when the Tigers advance to the NCAA or other postseason tournaments. The Dancers' practices are based on the class schedules of Tiger Dancers who are announced during the summer.
How do the Tiger Dancers balance their academic requirements?
The Tiger Dancers are committed to balancing their academic requirements along with their practice and game schedules during the course of the school year. Each year members of the Tiger Dancers are named West Coast Conference Scholar-Athletes for maintaining a GPA of over a 3.0. In addition, the Pacific Athletic Department sends out grade checks twice a semester to their professors in order to review their academic progress. Tigers Dancers may also register for a one unit activity class for credit.
