Biography

Freshman (2016):
Shives managed five appearances as a freshman and pitched multiple innings in all but one of those.  On March 17, Shives struck out three batters for a career high while allowing on earned runs against BYU.  He pitched 11.2 innings for Pacific and struck out nine men.

High School:
Shives was a standout for Francis W. Parker High School in San Diego before joining the Tigers.  He put up ERAs under two in both his junior and senior seasons: 1.25 in 78.1 innings as a junior and 1.21 in 81 innings as a senior.  He went 9-1 as a junior and was named Second Team All-League en route to a CIF Division III championship.  In his senior season, he was named First Team All-League and Second Team All-CIF after going 10-2.  Overall in his high school career, Shives went 20-3 in 39 appearances.

Personal:
Shives is the son of Marty and Terri and brother to Austin, age 22, and Erin, age 16.  His brother Austin played baseball at Stony Brook and Azusa Pacific in college.  Shives is a part of the Legal Scholars Program and is a sports management major.
