2014 (Senior):
Petty became the first Pacific student-athlete to pick up West Coast Conference Player of the Year honors in the school''s return to the conference. Petty led the West Coast Conference in average in 2014, hitting at a .367 clip while reaching base 48.3 percent of the time. Petty led the Tigers in RBIs (30), walks (31) and doubles (8) and tied for the team lead in hits with 51. Petty proved to be the Tigers greatest offensive threat during conference play, hitting .383 with 18 RBIs against WCC foes. In conference action, Petty led all hitters with 18 RBIs and 31 total bases and finished in the top five in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, hits, runs scored, doubles, home runs and stolen bases. A stalwart in the middle of the Tigers order, Petty started all 48 games for the Tigers in 2014, committing just three errors despite making the transition from right field to third base for the last seven games of the season.
2013 (Junior):
Once again showing off her utility in the field, Petty played both right field and third base for the Tigers in 2013 as injuries forced Pacific to move pieces around the field throughout the year. As a junior, Taylor missed just one game as she played in and started 55 of the Tigers'' 56 contests. At the plate, Petty made a jump in the power department as she led the team with six home runs to go along with 27 RBI and 27 runs scored. For the year, she hit .245, but in conference posted a .306 average as she tallied 22 hits to go along with 10 RBI. Overall, Petty also lead the team in walks for the first time in her career as she posted 27 free passes, including 15 in conference games alone.
2012 (Sophomore):
In just her second season of action, Petty earned her first-ever all-conference award as she moved to the outfield for the first time in her playing career. Taking over right field for the Tigers, Petty put together a solid year at the plate and in the field. For the year, Petty hit .254 with nine extra-base hits including three home runs, 23 RBI and 14 runs scored. Upping her play against conference opponents, Petty produced a .327 batting average while driving in a conference-best 15 RBI in 20 games played. In the field, Petty used her strong arm to cut down four runners on the basepaths including gunning down a pair at the plate in conference play.
2011 (Freshman):
Jumping into the starting lineup in just her first year of action, Taylor saw the majority of her time at third base starting 34 of the 37 games she appeared in. At the plate, Petty posted a .213 batting average and a .342 on-base percentage as she recorded 13 hits and 11 walks in 61 official at bats. She posted 11 runs and four RBI in her inaugural campaign, as well. Petty recorded her first collegiate hit on Feb. 18 as she went 3-for-3 in the Tigers'' 5-1 win over Kennesaw State in Tucson, Ariz.
High School:
A 2010 New Caney High School graduate, Petty comes to the Tigers as an all-around talent who can play all eight field positions. Petty earned All-District honors in each of her three seasons with the Eagles, including earning first team honors in both 2008 and 2009. Petty led her team in hitting in both seasons, along with leading the District in hitting as a sophomore. Petty earned MVP honors in her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons. In addition to high school action, Petty played a major part in the success of the Texas Impact Gold softball club as she helped lead her team to the 18U ASA National Tournament in both 2009 and 2010 and a ninth place finish in 2008.
Personal:
Taylor Petty was born in Humble, Texas, and is the daughter of April Petty. She has two siblings, Blake and Lance. In her fourth year at Pacific, Petty is a business major.
