Habib was named to the WCC All-Academic team in 2015 after picking up 10 RBI and 21 hits in 2015. Her season highlights included a home run at Sacramento State on Feb 24th and an RBI triple against Santa Clara on April 26th. Habib started all 55 games at shortstop as a defensive stalwart for the Tigers, paring with fellow junior Nicole Zapotoczny to form a potent double play combination that consistently prevented runs up the middle. Habib posted a season-high eight assists from shortstop against Grand Canyon on March 20th. She owns a 3.27 cumulative grade point average throughout her first five semesters as a member of the Tigers.

2014 (Sophomore):
Habib picked up a All-WCC First Team designation following a conference season in which she ranked in the top five in RBI and runs scored as well as in the top 10 in on-base percentage. Her five-RBI performance against BYU on May 3 represented the highest output in a WCC game this season. The Davis, Calif. native also added a five-RBI performance in a non-conference game against her hometown team in a Pacific win on April 23. In addition, Habib showed serious defensive prowess, starting all 48 contests at shortstop and constantly showing impressive range. Her highlights included starting a triple play at home against Sacramento State on April 8. She was a candidate for conference Defensive Player of the Year and also excelled offensively throughout the conference season. She hit an impressive .317 in conference play, tallying 13 hits and 10 RBIs against conference foes. Habib, a sport medicine major, owns a 3.60 cumulative GPA and was named to academic honors in her first season of eligibility.

2013 (Freshman):
In her first year at Pacific, Melanie suffered a season-ending injury midway through the year that cut her season short just before conference play began. Prior to her injury, Habib started all 30 of the Tigers’ games at short when healthy as she made the extraordinary look routine in the field. At the plate, she hit .274 with four doubles, 10 runs scored and 16 RBI. Overall, Melanie posted a pair of late, game-winning RBI in her first season as she won the games for the Tigers against Sac State and Fordham. She earned All-Tournament honors at the NFCA Leadoff Classic after posting a .429 average with a team-best six hits and seven RBI while scoring two runs. She was directly accountable for two of Pacific’s three victories at the tournament as she drove home the game-tying and game-winning RBI against Fordham while she scored the game-winner against Indiana.

High School:
One of the top players on the Blue Devils'' roster since joining the varsity team as just a freshman, Melanie graduated from Davis Senior HS in 2012. Opening her high school career in 2009 as a freshman, Habib immediately made an impact as the youngest member of the varsity team led the way at the plate hitting a team-best .418 in her first year of softball. As a junior Habib outdid her 2009 average as the Blue Devils'' captain posted a .435 average. For her play, the middle infielder earned her second-consecutive All-League award in 2011, a feat she one-upped as a senior in 2012 when she added league MVP honors to her collection of awards. As a senior, Habib led her Blue Devils to the Delta Valley Conference title as she posted a .386 batting average while driving in 20 RBI and scoring 38 runs. Off the field, the Davis High graduate excelled in the classroom and was tops in her class academically.
