STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball program completed its first-ever sweep of LMU, rallying late for a 6-4 victory on Sunday afternoon from Klein Family Field.
The Tigers (20-25, 12-9 WCC) received another gem from redshirt junior
Garret Plata, but a key two-run eighth inning lifted the home team past the Lions (12-37, 3-18 WCC) in the series finale.
Sunday's victory marks the seventh consecutive conference victory at home and gave the Tigers their second sweep of the conference slate – the first time that has happened for Pacific as members of the West Coast Conference since 2014.
Plata was dialed in for his fifth straight quality start of WCC play, pitching a career-long 7.1 innings with three earned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts. Redshirt senior
Nathen Nino (1-1) closed the door on the victory with his first one of the 2026 campaign. It marked Nino's first win since March 8, 2025, against Sacramento State.
A well-balanced approach at the plate by the Tigers, graduate
Brendan O'Sullivan carried the torch in the effort with his fifth consecutive game with a multi-hit performance. Junior
Braeden Schnabel, redshirt sophomore
JT Shank and sophomore
Diego Davis also collected two-hit efforts each as well.
Pacific plated the first run as senior
Jake Tandy brought home redshirt sophomore
Robert Orr in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead. The Lions tied the game on a solo shot by Travis Friend in the top of the fifth, snapping Plata's scoreless inning streak of 19 innings in conference play going back to April 12 at Pepperdine.
Plata continued to cruise as the Pacific offense took the lead with two more runs in the sixth inning and one more in the seventh to go up, 4-1.
A three-run spot for LMU in the eighth tied the ball game up, but the tie was short-lived as a two-run rally fueled by free passes gave Pacific a 6-4 edge.
Nino had to deal with the tying run at the plate but got out of the inning unscathed to complete the Tigers' 20th victory of the season, tying last year's total. A dozen conference wins this season ties the mark from the 2016 campaign. With two conference series to play, the Tigers are tied for third place with Pepperdine in the WCC standings.
The Tigers continue their eight-game homestand with their final Tuesday home contest of the season against California. First pitch is at 6 p.m. from Klein Family Field.
