PORTLAND, Ore. – With the final regular season series of the 2026 campaign, the Pacific baseball program looks to fight for higher seeding in the West Coast Conference Tournament when taking on Portland this week, beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. from Joe Etzel Field.
Following last week's series win over San Diego, the Tigers (22-26-1, 14-9-1 WCC) officially clinched a spot into the WCC Tournament for the first time in program history, standing a half game back of second-place Pepperdine with three road games remaining at the Pilots (25-24, 11-13 WCC).
Fresh off WCC Player of the Week honors, senior
Jake Tandy has been one of the many hot bats of the Pacific offense. Last week, Tandy went 11-for-18 (.611) with seven runs, seven RBIs, three doubles and two home runs over the four-game stretch against California and San Diego. Of note, across the weekend's three games against the Toreros, Tandy was one of three players in the country to record ten hits (10-for-14), joining Utah Tech's Manwaring and UIC's Ashton Kampa.
Tandy is up to a career-high 42 RBIs along with five home runs on the 2026 campaign. His five home runs has tied his career mark from a season ago. Tandy is hitting .311 and slugging .472 on the year, which both rank third on the Tigers. The native of West Sacramento, California brings a 12-game hitting streak with him to the Pacific Northwest this week. The longest hitting streak by a Tiger since 2014 was Danny Mayer during the 2016 campaign at 22 games.
Junior
Braeden Schnabel has been a key offensive producer during conference play, sporting a .375 batting average with a team-best 13 doubles in 24 conference games. Schnabel's conference batting average is a top ten mark among qualified WCC hitters. The native of Tempe, Arizona leads Pacific with a .361 clip and a .549 slugging percentage.
The middle infield duo of graduate student
Brendan O'Sullivan and redshirt sophomore
Robert Orr join Tandy and Schnabel as over .300 hitters. O'Sullivan leads the Tigers in runs (36) and multi-hit performances (19) while Orr has crushed a team-high six home runs.
From a pitching perspective, redshirt junior
Zach Todd and redshirt junior
Garret Plata represent two of the top pitchers in the WCC. The pair each have at least 65.0 innings pitched with over a strikeout-per-inning ratio. Todd has won three straight conference starts while Plata owns a conference-low 2.08 earned run average, which ranks tenth in the country.
Portland was recently swept by Pepperdine in its last WCC road clash of the year. The Pilots currently sit tied for sixth place in the league standings with Seattle.
One Pilot to keep an eye on this week offensively is Cole Katayama-Stall, who leads his club with nine home runs, 36 RBIs and 28 runs in 47 games. Will Labonte represents the staff ace for Portland with a 2.63 earned run average in 68.1 innings, second in the conference behind Plata.
The Tigers will head north in search of claiming their first series over the Pilots since the 2018 campaign.
All three games will be streamed live on ESPN+ with a 6 p.m. first pitch Thursday, a 6 p.m. first pitch Friday and a 1 p.m. first pitch Saturday.
