Baseball Clinches First WCC Tournament Berth in Program History

STOCKTON, Calif. – For the first time in program history, the Pacific baseball program has punched its ticket to the West Coast Conference Tournament.

With Sunday's tie in the series finale to San Diego and how the rest of the WCC standings shape out, the Tigers have officially clinched a spot to the WCC Tournament at Scottsdale Stadium in Scottsdale, Arizona from May 20-23.

"It was a goal we set at the start of the year," Pacific head coach Reed Peters said. "These guys really came together. The leadership of the senior class helped us turn it around. It was some great work by our assistant coaches to help us get here, but it ultimately came down to the players to get us there."

The Tigers rejoined the WCC during the 2013-14 academic year and had never qualified among the top six teams to make the WCC Tournament in the previous 12 years.

Pacific has been on a roll heading into the final home series of the season, winning 12 of its last 15 conference games, including five consecutive conference series victories – the most in a single season as part of the WCC.

Currently sitting a half game back of second-place Pepperdine in the WCC standings, the Tigers have one final conference series remaining at Portland this week beginning Thursday May 14, looking to earn a top two seed to secure a first round bye in the WCC Tournament.
