Softball Drops Game Two of Series with Seattle

STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific had a tough afternoon in the circle, giving up 12 runs in a 12-1 loss in five innings to Seattle in game two of the series Friday afternoon at Bill Simoni Field.

Before Seattle (16-19, 2-0 WCC) went on the 12-run streak, the Tigers (12-25, 0-5 WCC) struck first as freshman Kelly Whelihan doubled in a run in the first inning. The double was he first of her collegiate career and the second extra base hit of her season, as well as the seventh RBI of her campaign.

Pacific's other two hits during the game belonged to redshirt senior Olivia Silvestre and junior Zaedi Tagalog.

Through the first two frames, the pitching staff was able to stave off the Redhawks attack. It wasn't until the third inning that junior Justice Alcaraz surrendered a run and the two runs she conceded in her three innings of work made her the pitcher of record, dropping to 4-7. Her final line read three innings pitched, five hits, two runs, two walks and two strikeouts.

After that point, Seattle was able to convert nine hits and two walks into the ten runs that brought the final score where it stood and clinch the victory for Seattle.

Pacific can still salvage game three of the series on Saturday at noon. That game is sold out but can be seen on ESPN+.
