STOCKTON, Calif. – Opening an eight-game homestand, the Pacific baseball program came up on the wrong side of a 17-4 decision in eight innings against Cal State Bakersfield on Tuesday night at Klein Family Field.
The Tigers (17-25) trailed early on as the Roadrunners (20-25) continued to step on the gas throughout the evening, ultimately taking the second meeting of the season between the two clubs.
Senior
Rylan Evans represented one of the key swings of the Pacific offense on the night, launching a three-run home run for his fourth big fly of the season. The sixth-inning blast marked a new career-high in a single season for Evans, who also extended Pacific's home run streak to eight consecutive games, tying the longest home run stretch since eight games from April 26, 2022, to May 12, 2022.
Graduate student
Brendan O'Sullivan, redshirt junior
Colin Spear and junior
Alex Dolan each recorded multi-hit performances in the effort offensively. Dolan was not retired by the Roadrunners' pitching staff, going 2-for-2 with a walk, a run and a stolen base.
Redshirt freshman
Liam Smith (1-4) made his sixth start of the season on the mound and was handed the decision following four runs (one earned) in two frames of work. Five more Tiger arms followed Smith throughout the evening.
Pacific looks to regroup, resuming West Coast Conference play against LMU on Friday for Free Chick-fil-A Sandwich Card Day at 6 p.m. from Klein Family Field.
