LOS ANGELES – Pacific could not solve the LMU's pitching attack and as a result took an 8-0 defeat Saturday afternoon at Smith Field.
Senior
Jordan Hayes had the best night of the Tigers (16-31, 4-10 WCC), reaching twice via a single and walk. Freshman
Kelly Whelihan also drew a walk to round out Pacific's baserunning threats on the afternoon. An error in the third inning against LMU (30-15, 7-4 WCC) gave the Tigers two on with one out but could not make anything of the chance and never threatened the rest of the game.
In the circle, Pacific's fortunes were similarly cold, giving up eight runs in the first two innings. Junior
Justice Alcaraz was charged with the loss after spinning 1.1 innings giving up seven runs on six hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
Freshman
Sophia Lambaren finished the inning after conceding one run on three hits. Finally, sophomore
Alexa Lewis entered the game and stabilized the defense, not giving up any runs over the final two frames.
Game three of the series on Sunday gives the team an opportunity to earn a share of the series. First pitch is scheduled for noon on ESPN+.
