STOCKTON, Calif. – At the midway point of the West Coast Conference slate, the Pacific baseball program looks to light up the sky this weekend, hosting Santa Clara in a three-game series, beginning with Fireworks Night on Friday at 6 p.m. at Klein Family Field.
As the Tigers (12-23, 4-8 WCC) battle the Broncos (14-21, 3-9 WCC), recent history suggests favorable outcomes on Fireworks Nights, winning three of the last four instances. Last year, Pacific defeated Pepperdine, 7-3, as the opener to Senior Day weekend.
Junior
Regan Carter pitched a career-best seven innings with no earned runs in that Fireworks Night victory last season. In five conference games in 2026, Carter sports a 1-1 record with a 3.72 ERA and nine strikeouts in 9.2 innings.
Redshirt junior
Garret Plata has been the most consistent pitcher for Pacific all year as his 1.96 earned run average sits atop the WCC leaderboard and 23rd in the country. His 6.31 hits allowed per nine innings stands in the top 60 among qualified national starters.
Continuing to highlight Pacific arms in recent successes, redshirt junior
Carson Revay picked up his fifth save of the season in series-clinching win over the Waves last weekend. His five saves are tied for third in the WCC and 42nd among qualified national relievers. Revay sports the second-lowest ERA on the Tigers with a 3.45 mark in 15 appearances and 31.1 innings of work.
The middle infield duo of graduate student
Brendan O'Sullivan and redshirt sophomore
Robert Orr have facilitated the Pacific offense, who have scored the sixth-most runs in the WCC (183). O'Sullivan has swung the bat well in conference series, hitting .347 with a team-best 17 hits and 12 RBIs across 12 games in league play. Orr has supplied the pop for Pacific with a team-high five home runs and is tied with O'Sullivan in runs at 21 this season.
Sophomore
Diego Davis rides a ten-game on-base streak into Friday night and has gone 11-for-30 (.366) with three runs and two RBIs since March 22.
Santa Clara has scuffled of late, dropping seven straight before winning a tight 2-1 contest in its midweek match-up at Stanford for their second road win of the year. The Broncos, who sit right under the Tigers in the league standings in ninth place, fell to San Francisco, San Diego and Saint Mary's (last week) in WCC action.
Ben Cleary has been a thorn in the side of opposing pitching, hitting .372 across 32 games, which is fifth-best in the WCC. While Max Bayles has been the ace of the Broncos' staff, he is coming off his toughest outing of the season against the Gaels. Bayles owns a 3-2 record with a 2.89 earned run average and conference-leading 69 strikeouts (25th in NCAA).
In the series history between the two programs, the Tigers have won three of the last four contests against the Broncos, including a road series win in the Bay Area last season. Pacific seeks its first home series victory over Santa Clara since 2016. The Tigers have averaged 5.63 runs against Bronco pitching since 2006.
Last year in Santa Clara, Pacific won a pair of one-run games in the series with junior
Braeden Schnabel going 3-for-7 with a home run and career-high four RBIs in the second game to seal the 9-8 victory.
All three games will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Dennis Ackerman on the call for each of them.
