MORAGA, Calif. – Kicking off an eight-game road trip, the Pacific baseball program will head to Saint Mary's for its West Coast Conference road-opening series, beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday from Louis Guisto Field.
The Tigers (10-17, 2-4 WCC) and the Gaels (14-13, 2-4 WCC) clash with identical conference records through the first two WCC series, both currently sitting in a tie for sixth place in the league standings.
Pacific won its last contest in the series against Gonzaga by a 7-4 margin, in part thanks to the home run power of senior
Grant MacArthur and redshirt sophomore
Robert Orr.
In conference play, graduate student
Brendan O'Sullivan has manufactured in the most runs for the Tigers with seven RBIs alongside a .400 batting average. Junior
Levi Sotomayor holds the team-high in batting average in WCC action at a .500 clip, while MacArthur follows Sotomayor at .429.
Overall, Orr has paced the Pacific offense with a .333 batting average, blasting a team-best five home runs. Orr leads the Tigers in hits, doubles, home runs and slugging percentage, all while playing exceptional defense at shortstop with a 99.2% fielding percentage. Orr's .333 clip ranks sixth in the conference, while his home runs are among the top 11.
On the pitching front, redshirt junior
Garret Plata looks forward to making a start in Moraga, California. The former Gael has been Pacific's top pitcher in the 2026 campaign with a conference-low 1.59 earned run average in 28.1 innings of work with 35 strikeouts. Plata has thrown at least five innings in four of his six starts this year.
Redshirt junior
Carson Revay has been a resourceful reliever out of the bullpen, sporting a 3.16 earned run average in 33.2 innings with 31 strikeouts and a team-leading four saves. His four saves rank third among the WCC.
The Gaels dropped two out of three in their first home series of the year to Pepperdine, and last week did the same on the road at Portland. Saint Mary's owns an 8-5 record at home on the year, including series non-conference wins over CSUN and San Jose State.
Jacob Johnson is a Gael to keep an eye on as he leads the Gaels in overall batting average (.418), home runs (8) and RBIs (32). Jared Mettam has the best batting average in WCC play at .348.
John Damozonio has been sharp lately as the Friday starter for Saint Mary's, throwing four straight games of 6.0 innings, including a scoreless start at Portland last time out. Damozonio's earned run average stands at 2.37 in 38.0 innings.
Looking at the series history, the Tigers seek their first-ever road series win at the Gaels since rejoining the WCC in 2013. Saint Mary's has won the last nine games in the head-to-head matchup. The Tigers last defeated the Gaels on the road on April 23, 2021.
All three games will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with a 6 p.m. first pitch on Thursday and Friday, and a 1 p.m. first pitch for Saturday's series finale.
